Will the new NHS 10 year plan be a breakthrough moment for respiratory?
Every 5 minutes someone dies from a lung condition in the UK – together they are the UK’s third biggest killer. But for too long the government hasn’t taken lung health seriously. Lung conditions cost the NHS nearly ten billion pounds every single year and in the UK we have the worst death rate for lung conditions in Europe.
With a new Labour government, we have to take action now to finally get the breakthrough people with lung conditions need and deserve.
Asthma + Lung UK is campaigning for bold new diagnosis targets, investment in lung health research, and to see the toxic air we breathe tackled
The new NHS 10 year plan will be key to rebuilding a health service that delivers the care that people with lung conditions deserve.
This session will explore how respiratory clinicians on the frontline of the NHS are vital in making this happen, how we can work together to make sure the government and local health systems take respiratory conditions seriously, and reduce the stark health inequalities that people living with lung conditions face.
